OHS associate principal named (2008/08/12)
Onalaska High School’s new associate principal, Jared Schaffner, grew up on a Fountain City area dairy farm and comes to Onalaska from a position teaching agriculture. But Schaffner, 30, led a agri-science program that has nearly as many students, 470, as Onalaska High. The Pulaski Community High School has about 1,200 students.

Christen Geyer leaves no doubt she is pumped up about taking part in her fourth Onalaska High School summer musical and seventh OHS show overall. For one thing, she landed a plum starring role as the witch in this year’s production of Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods.”

A league of their own: Students launch four-team softball league (2008/07/10)
Little Billy comes up to the plate, batting last in the lineup, and bunts a slow roller to the pitcher. It should be an easy out, but the pitcher overthrows first base. A couple more miscues and all of a sudden Billy has a home run. In a way, that’s kind of how the Holmen Area Backyard Softball League was born, starting out hoping for a bunt single and ending up notching a homer.
