La Crosse Community Theatre will hold auditions for its production of the musical mystery “Something’s Afoot” on Sept. 8-9 by appointment, beginning at 6 p.m. at La Crosse Community Theatre, 118 Fifth Ave. N.

This musical spoof about the detective genre, based mostly on works by Agatha Christie, involves a group of people invited to the estate of Lord Dudley Rancour. When the host is found dead, all race to discover whodunit. Chaos ensues as one after another the guests are killed.

The musical, with lyrics, music and book by James McDonald, David Vos and Robert Gerlach, is a comical journey with a surprise twist at the end.

The cast will be made up of 10 men and women, plus perhaps a few extras

People auditioning should be prepared to read from the script and bring 16 bars of music from any Broadway musical to sing. The audition also will include a movement portion.

Performances begin Oct. 24 with the final show on Nov. 9. For more information, call 784-9292 or log onto www.lacrossecommunitytheatre.org.
