The second annual Diggity Dog Dip will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, August 30 at the Onalaska Aquatic Center (across from the Omni Center).

Last year, 200 dogs and hundreds of their human companions attended the Diggity Dog Dip at the pool. This event, which takes place on the last day the pool is open, is expected to be even bigger this year as the concept and the positive reaction brought much interest to area dog owners.

This is a fundraiser for the Onalaska Parks and Recreation Department to support a new dog exercise area on the south end of Van Riper Park. It also will benefit the Coulee Region Humane Society. There will also be an opportunity to make item donations for the Humane Society, with a donation container on-site to accept items.

With the Diggity Dog Dip, the pool is all about the dogs for an open swim day. Family dogs are welcome at the pool to swim and play with other social dogs. The pool is fenced in, so all the dogs can be off leash inside the pool grounds. There will be separate kiddie pools for puppies and small dogs.

Cost is $10 per for one dog and $5 each for additional dogs from the same family. People are welcome at no charge but donations will be accepted.

Some things to keep in mind:

Documented current vaccination records for bordetella, rabies and distemper are required before entry. Bordetella (kennel cough) is not a part of the usual vaccination routine and must be requested by each owner at least 1 week prior to event.

No aggressive dogs are allowed. One act of aggression and the dog must be removed.

Humans are not allowed in the water.

Dogs must arrive at the pool on-leash. Then it may be removed when inside the pool facility.

Refreshments will be available for both dogs and people
